Weekly Wishes

Weekly wishes time! This week this pair of Oasis shorts caught my eye.

I have wanted a pair of statement shorts for a while and, paired with a nice tan and some killer heels, I think this pair with the scallop hem detail might be just the ticket!

I am defiantly a sucker for a good time piece and have been checking out Ice watches for ages. Hopefully I will be able to treat myself to the gorgeous Ice White with a purple face sooner rather than later!!

Who Dressed Well This Week? Anne Hathaway

Super quick 'Who Dressed Well This Week?' because I am being whisked out the door as I type!

Well, this week there could only be one answer to that question and it is Anne Hathaway, wearing Alexander McQueen to the UK premiere of One Day. The dress is gorgeous on Hathaway and it is clear that she is following through on her on gratitude "to Kate Middleton for dressing like a lady."

Although the dress might be a touch too long for the actress, she has complimented it perfectly with McQueen accessories, resulting in total elegance.

It's clear she is reading from the Duchess of Cambridge's book of style, what do you think of Anne Hathaway's red carpet look?

A Disney Take on Vogue

I love it when someone takes the concept of Vogue and gives it their own spin and this idea takes Disney Couture to another level! Artist Dante has taken the infamous Vogue cover format and illustrated them with our favourite Disney Princesses as cover girls.

I have narrowed down my favourite three from the collection of eight. I tried to do it based on the illustrations but there is no doubt that my decision has been influenced by the films!

I adore the Belle and Jasmine covers, but the winner for me has to be the Snow White cover. Snow White is the Princess that has remained the most true to her character on the cover, but is owning it as if she has been through every cycle of America's Next Top Model!

Would you buy a Disney Vogue, or would you rather stick to flesh and bone models?

Weekly Wishes

Those of you that know me will know that I have moved! I didn't just move house or country, but continent and I have found myself living in Dubai again which is a pretty exciting development!

Thanks to my small 'Relocation, Relocation' my life has been squashed into two cases and is now in chaos, however this has by no means dampened my ever present urge to internet window shop!

I am really into paper bag waist maxi skirts at the moment and although I love these New Look ones I think that River Island have released the best collection. My favourite one is this one with feather print detail (£35), perfect for an autumn in Dubai wouldn't you say?!

Perhaps it is because of the move, but I am also thinking about decorative bits and bobs. I have photo frames stocked full of my nearest and dearest but what I really want to lift my room's plain white walls with is a Charmaine Olivia painting. I am by no means calling for an original (I will be waiting a while for a cheque that can accommodate one) but I would love a couple of her silhouette prints to hang on my walls!  My favourite two are the matching, and very fitting, Little Houses Silhouettes but I also adore this Boat Hat Silhouette.

Charmaine Olivia's work is stocked at etsy.com and in Urban Outfitters if you want to snap some up yourself. I wrote a feature on her for my university magazine back in May and fell a little bit in love, I think it was the tea drinking bit of her 'about me'. I will see if, some how, I can be a technical wizard and get a copy of my article up here.

What are you lusting for this week?

Who Dressed Well This Week? Zooey Deschanel

Ever since seeing (500) Days of Summer I have been a big fan of Zooey Deschanel (I can't wait for New Girl to air in September). She manages to nail quirky fashion with out making it gimmicky and this Moschino dress from their Autumn/Winter 2011 range is perfect for her.

On a lot of women the monochrome colours and ruffled detail would look more circus-chic than premiere-glam, however Zooey pulls it off perfectly. By keeping her accessories simple and sweeping her hair into a very 'now' messy side bun she has managed to look both on trend and classically glamourous.

Do you think Zooey has nailed this look?

Weekly Wishes

Words cannot describe how much I am lusting after the Mulberry Polly Push Lock in Midnight. In fitting with the timeless and classy style that has come to define Mulberry handbags, this newer model has the classic envelope flap but with a slightly updated push lock clasp. So far it's only been seen on Kate Middleton and Clémence Poésy but that wouldn't be bad company to keep! Anyone fancy shelling out £850 so I can sport this beauty on my arm? No, I didn't think so!

For now I'll just have to enjoy the photo,

Who Dressed Well This Week? Olivia Palermo

On paper the idea of a 'fushia, orange, black and nude pleated maxi dress' is all wrong. However, the miracle worker that is Olivia Palmero managed to pull it off seamlessly!

You don't need to be addicted to Vogue to know that colour blocking is the talk of the town, The City star took a risk with the trend but it certainly paid off. Teaming it with statement necklaces makes and a low key clutch finish the out fit off perfectly.

The August Issue

'New Beginnings' they promised us and new beginnings they gave us. There is a sense of a fresh start throughout the August issue, not only with Kate Moss the new Mrs Hince, but through the seasonal wardrobe change we start to see every year around now (I am sure I am not alone in noticing the jumpers creeping into shops, I for one am not ready to let go of summer quite yet!)and there is even a piece of Jemima Khan conquering her fears, now if that's not a clean slate what is?

Let's begin with our newly married flagship supermodel. Kate Moss has remained one of the most desirable women in the world, despite a couple of bumps along the way and I am pretty sure we all rejoiced a little bit when we saw her looking so genuinely happy at her three day wedding-come-festival to Jamie Hince. Along with introducing the world to a married Kate Moss, Vogue has simultaneously drawn our attention to the silhouette of the season: "Simple yet utterly impactful."

Moss oozes glamour in the feature, confirmation that fashion is now looking beyond the Mad Men of the fifties but to the forties and Wallis Simpson for their by-gone inspiration. Fittingly Moss has been photographed by close friend Mario Testino and the staple war era look of loose curls, red lips and wasp waists have been ushered into 2011 with bold bangles, pieirot necklines and fur detail. The write up insists that instead of looking to festival-glam for your summer looks, this year we need to amp up our glamour - slightly ironic seeing as we all know that Kate Moss has been hitting the festival trail with her usual force!

Continuing on the vein of new beginnings and fresh starts, the August 'View Point' belongs to Jemima Khan. The model opened up to Vogue about her fear of flying, a phobia that has now been tackled. The editorial surprised me, not only because we live in a modern world, where flying seems to be the norm, but because Jemima Khan is a celebrity... aren't they always jetting around the world? Khan explained that her fear began long before she found fame and every journey she makes by air is a struggle, only made worse when she was on board during an attempted hijack, that must be enough to put anyone off. The feature was refreshing because it showed a humane side to a celebrity and left us with a sense of resolve seeing her conquer her fear.

Now to tackle the September issue!

Who Dressed Well This Week? Cat Deeley

Oh Cat Deeley! You that started off on SM:TV live and are now a mega TV personality in the States, well done you! However, as well as being particularly good at presenting  TV shows, Ms Deeley is fast becoming known for her fashion choices.

On Tuesday Cat was on The Late Show With David Letterman and arrived looking very chic in this metallic number. Metallics are set to be a huge trend this winter, so Cat is ahead of the game on this one. I am not yet sure who the dress is by, but if I find that out I will be sure to up date!

However, there is another contender this week. A certain Mila Kunis is still pulling out every stop on her press tour for Friends With Benefits. If she hadn't been last week's winner she certainly would have got it for this stand out dress.

Over and out for now,
F x

Oh... One last thing! Surely I can't be alone in thinking that Cat Deeley is slowly morphing into Jennifer Aniston. Anybody agree?

Weekly Wishes

Just a short post this week because I have taken a break from the endless job hunt and I am currently staycationing with my gal pals in Cornwall. Being Cornwall my primary interest at the moment is:

However, I am also very much in 'holiday-mode', so with that in mind I have been on the hunt for perfect holiday shoes and I think I have found them in Kurt Geiger. The Miss KG Panda Wedges come in a host of colours and will be perfect for walking to Land's End *coughs* Plus, they are currently on sale, so there is literally nothing stopping me from buying them, hurrah!

Hope you're having a ball where ever you are,
